We’ve tested eight of the most popular online backup services here, evaluating them for convenience, speed of transfer, the security of your data, and the efficiency of any live protection systems. With services starting from no cost atall, there’s no reason not to get protected. See ratings |

For around $49.95 a year Carbonite offers a really easy way to protect all your files against a data disaster. Best of all you can try it for free without committing even a credit card number, so you can make a really educated decision about whether it’s right for your needs. See the review |

Because everything is contained in its own interface, it is easy to use on a basic level, but while there’s also some Windows integration here, it’s not quite so neatly implemented as Mozy and it doesn’t offer as many alternative ways to get your files back. See the review |

There are many online backup services available, but for home users there’s still nothing out there to match Carbonite’s blend of intuitive operation and incredible price. With backup this cheap and simple, there can be no more excuses not to do it. See review |

My testing shows that the service’s claims are far from fictional. And the price is attractive, too: Carbonite makes no distinction between personal and business use, as most other services do. The low price of under $50 a year gets you unlimited storage, though the service will be less interesting to businesses, as it lacks support for network drives. See review

If backing up your folders is one of those good ideas you never get around to, Carbonite Online PC Backup might be for you. Carbonite tales the effort out of your contingency plan with software that automatically backs up your selected data and stores it, encrypted, on online servers. The format and services are useful and intuitive. See review |

At the same price and comparable on so many fronts – ease of use comes to the top of my list as the deciding factor. While Keepit is a solid solution and is a great value, Carbonite is just so easy to use and you never think about it, and in all respects it performs very well. I give it the thumbs up. See review. |

The best thing to do is to try both services to see which one works best for you and to decide which one you like the best. Both services are incredibly cheap and easy to test. Carbonite backup offers a free 15-day trial and Mozy Home has a month-to-month option that only costs $4.95/month. Take them both for a test drive and see for yourself which one is the winner!
