What is Carbonite and how does it work?
Carbonite installs a small application (3MB) on your PC that looks for new for new and changed files to back up. Its actually forms part of your desktop by placing a green lock in the bottom right hand corner which gives you access to the Carbonite Info Centre.
As part of its backup process it encrypts each file twice before moving it to its data centre in Boston. The encryption standards used are the same as those used by Banks. No one can see your files, not even the customer service staff, so they remain safe and secure.
Unlike other online tools Carbonite does all of the work for you. Waht is also pretty smart is that it actually goes to sleep when you are working on your computer, so it won’t slow your machine or internet down.
The real test is in the restore process. This is when the real test is on. Carbonite restore process is quick and easy. With a few clicks from your desktop you can begin your restore. You can actually do this to your existing PC or to a new one (where your PC has died or has been replaced).
